Protein Pharmacology
Rottapharm is co-founder, with a group of academic scientists and the University of Milano
(Italy), of a university spin-off (Foldless). The Company owns a revolutionary proprietary technology platform base
on protein dynamic pharmacology, able to discover potential new drugs of peptidic or peptidomimetic
nature for diseases in which targeted proteins have a pathogenetic role.
Foldless started to investigate different viral diseases and will move to degenerative
diseases afterwards. BRU 83-92 is a selective HIV-1 protease inhibitor, endowed with a
pharmacological profile far superior to that of any other known anti-viral agent. The final checks
to confirm the development plan in patients with AIDS are now in course.
In the meantime, Foldless has initiated the process of discovery of new molecules active
against the Hepatitis C virus.
