Rottapharm has developed and introduced into the market Dermestril®, the first matrix patch for the transdermal release of estradiol in HRT. The group was a pioneer and improved the matrix patch technology, developing active ingredient supersaturated systems that allow transdermal absorption without the use of enhancers (Active Matrix).
Recently Dermestril® Septem has been introduced for once weekly instead of twice weekly applications, while the estrogen/progestin combined patch Combestril® is under registration.
